Woolacotts are pleased to announce their involvement in the recently constructed, and award winning Young Tafe College. Woolacotts was engaged to provide Civil and Structural Engineering services on this project, which aimed to create an inspiring tafe campus, in which students and members of the public could enjoy attending.

Tafe NSW stated:

Young campus is now serviced by a brand new multi-million dollar state of the art training facility while still embracing it’s historic roots.”

On the 17th of August at the Master Builder Riverina Awards, Zauner Construction took out both the Category Award and Regional Commercial Builder of the Year award for their work on the Young TAFE college. In July 2018, at the Ulladulla Awards, the Young Tafe project took out the award for the “Best use of steel”.

Stephen Branch, Woolacotts Managing Director stated:

We worked closely with the architects and construction teams throughout this project, and are happy to see the finished college being recognised and awarded for it’s design, construction and materials.”

The brief for this project included developing a striking yet functional design, invigorating the current campus whilst also creating interconnected spaces that hold maximum availability of communication technology.

The design philosophy for this project was “enjoy living and learning”. This was achieved through the use of colour, light and transparency. Woolacotts worked closely with the project architects to develop a college with simulated and flexible workspaces, in an open plan setting with multi-use meeting spaces.

The finished project included a range of modern and functional materials, including corrugated steel, galvanised steel, terracotta panels and timber veneered ceiling panels. All materials were chosen for their low maintenance and functionality within the space.
