Assure Partners selected for Eastern Goldfields Prison PPP
9 November 2012
The WA state government has announced Assure Partners consortium as the preferred respondent for the new Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison project in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia.
Woolacotts acted as principal engineering consultants, advising the state government in their selection of the consortium for this $232 million public private partnership (PPP) project.
Assure Partners, consisting of Capella Capital, John Holland, Pindan and Honeywell, has been selected to design, construct, finance, and maintain the new state-of-the-art prison.
This major project involves construction of a 350 bed prison that will cater for both genders across all security ratings. The prison will be designed to engage Indigenous prisoners in culturally appropriate programs and courses.
Treasurer Troy Buswell said a rigorous evaluation process resulted in a strong field, with the preferred respondent submitting a robust proposal that provided innovative design solutions and competitive costing.
Design will commence in January 2013, with construction anticipated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2015.
Woolacotts will continue to advise the state government throughout design development and construction.
