Work has begun on the Montagne Centre at Marist College, Eastwood.
Two tennis courts on the corner of Terry Road and Shaftesbury Road will be replaced by a multipurpose, state-of-the-art centre.
The project started with the demolition of the courts in January, and the college is hoping to have the new centre ready for the start of the 2015 school year.
The centre will house facilities from drama, fitness, hospitality and music, plus an auditorium to seat more than 1000, an indoor basketball court and two rooftop basketball courts and cricket nets.
SARM Architects developed the striking design for the centre, Woolacotts Consulting Engineers delivered the structural and civil engineering design, and the project is being built by Reitsma Construction.
