Role
Structural, civil and stormwater drainage engineering services

The new Student Learning Centre structure will encompass a studio, a covered terrace, learning spaces and amenities, with a distinctive detailed façade works and a link to the existing Corner House.

Woolacotts were engaged by EPM Projects on behalf on Ravenswood School for Girls to provide structural and civil engineering services for the project from concept design to construction supervision services.

Our Role

Woolacotts have collaborated with BVN Architecture to document a state-of-the-art school facility that will achieve the learning outcomes desired whilst presenting a striking visual impact of the boundary at the school with the Pacific Highway.

The project involved the demolition of two existing single level buildings on the School’s campus and construction of a new Student Learning Centre providing 11 new general learning areas, collaborative breakout zones, new staff/student facilities and external works landscaping.

Innovations

Our team implemented the use of concrete columns with cast in downpipes, together with steel frames of various geometric shapes for the support of the roof rafters and gutter.

Development of several design options for the unobtrusive steel framing used for the facade to support the distinctive copper panels, coloured glass brick walls and glazing.

Recess and cast in details to ensure that aesthetics and buildability were both taken into consideration. Steel framed airlock facilities and tree awnings connected to existing building structures.
