Canning Vale College opened in 2004. It is located in a rapidly growing area, and the college has continued to grow to more than 1,300 students in 2013.
The college is located on a compact site adjacent to a shared sports oval.
The campus was developed over two stages between 2002 and 2005. The current project involves the addition of a new year seven learning block of 880 square metres. The new block consists of raft slabs and steel framed roof.
Significant associated works also include the relocation of four existing transportable classroom units, and the establishment of six new transportable classroom units.
Project challenges
One of our main challenges is to coordinate with services engineers during the design and construction phase to ensure ducts and mechanical units could be located in confined spaces without clashing with structural members.
In addition, Woolacotts Consulting Engineers provided the design for in-ground stormwater systems and additional car parking.
